Utilities

The best description here is “there are no surprises”. If you budget $100/mo for utilities, you will be fine. Part of that is unless you decide to live at the ocean you are likely to be at an altitude (and, thus, climate) where neither heating or air conditioning is required.

For some specifics

  • Internet can cost from Q100 ($12) on up, depending on the speed desired. For example, I have a 40Mb Internet connection, a couple hundred cable TV channels and a telephone for Q419 (about $50)/mo.
  • Electricity will cost about $.20/kWh but, remember, no heating or air conditioning.
  • Water tends to be cheap — budget about $10/mo
  • Cooking is typically done with propane — a 25 lb. cylinder costs about $15.
